Developing improved scientific techniques for forest restoration and conservation through physiological and ecological approaches
Our main research goal is to develop improved scientific techniques for forest restoration and conservation with a diversity of field sites and environmental conditions. Our research themes cover all aspects of forest ecosystem functioning, from the cellular and molecular level to the global scale. We conduct research in the laboratory and in the field in temperate, subtropical and tropical forests of Asia, especially Japan and Southeast Asia.
●Metabolism and movement of substances in forest soil and trees ●Nursery techniques for lower cost forestry ●Physiological and anatomical tolerance to flooding ●Renovation of forestry activities in radiocesium polluted areas ●Genetic resource management of forest soil microorganisms and trees |
